Responsible Travel on our Flotillas

Seafarer is passionate about the countries we operate our flotilla holidays in. Wherever possible we would like to ensure that we make a positive contribution to these beautiful places. Responsible travel does not mean a sacrifice to the quality or experience of your holiday, and can in fact even enhance your trip through a greater understanding of the local environment and culture.

Here are a few ways in which we try to make a positive impact:
On our sailing holidays we use local staff for yacht maintenance and base operations wherever possible. Our transfers and tailor made land arrangements are arranged by local suppliers. We also use environmentally friendly cleaning products to clean the yachts and provide eco friendly detergents for washing your dishes onboard.

Recommendations on how you can help:
In order to respect the local environment, culture and traditions, we ask that you learn about the country you are visiting before you travel.

Some tips on what you could do:

• Take the minimum amount of packaging with you
• Learn a few words of the local language
• Respect religious and social customs
• Try the delicious local cuisine
• Respect locals, ask before taking photos
• Dress and behave respectfully (especially in Religious sites)
• Don’t pick local flowers, plants or collect seashells from beaches
• Support local initiatives by buying local products and souvenirs
• Dispose of rubbish and waste carefully and recycle where possible
• Use environmentally friendly cleaning products on your yacht (as we provide)
• Minimise water and power use
• And of course- use your sails, its fun and environmentally neutral

At Seafarer we obviously have a passion for Greece and would like to do our utmost to ensure that we make a positive contribution to this remarkable country. • We have introduced recycling initiatives to the local area
• Solar panels have been installed on all bungalows for hot water supply
• We have an eco-friendly waste (sewage disposal) systeWhere possible we employ local residents
• We try to support the local economy by purchasing local products and produce
• In order to promote and encourage local culture we have a traditional folklore night run by a local voluntary cultural society every week. It is a lot of fun!
